A Sand Filter septic system is the most common septic system used in our area. The low Maintenance and the ability to be used in clay soils are reasons that make it popular. The Trench septic system is still used when soil types allow it. Alternative Systems, are great for soils that don’t drain well, small lots, flood plains, when your traditional systems don’t work. Two Alternative Systems we work with the most are Waterloo Biofilter and Orenco System. I often get asked how do I know which system is best for me? Some information that is needed to determine that is what is your soil type, what is the size of your lot, what is your topography, do you want a maintenance contract. Alternative systems are required to have a maintenance contract.
